Students of the Week

(Fall 2018 and Spring 2019)

Niko Pol

October 29,  2018

Our sixth ambassador of the week for the Fall of 2018 is Niko Pol

Niko is a first year double major in Mathematics and Biological sciences. She chose mathematics because she has always enjoyed solving equations and learning their evolution into the science of relation and order that underlies this universe. She also loves Biology and the study life and living organisms.

As a first year, Niko is not in a lab yet but she is in our CURE class. She has a very confident and radiating personality, especially in a lab setting, that she exhibits all the great qualities of a scientist. She seems eager to learn and even more eager to help her fellow students. Moving forward, she is interested in possibly joining a Psychology Lab.

Niko joined the STEM Ambassadors Program because “I thought it would be a great opportunity to be a part of a STEM focused community and that it would be a good place to start forming connections to peers and others on campus”. Her favorite part of the program are “the opportunities to learn and develop new skills in C.U.R.E.”

With about three and a half years left to go, Niko’s ultimate goal remains to be a pediatric cardio-thoracic surgeon. But during her down time, she takes a break from academics by playing the piano and the ukulele, participating in the ski club, and doing parkour. She is a freedom Mass volunteer and a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA).
